About Us

Our story starts in the Indian Ocean, in the coastal towns we grew up in and the islands we have called home over the years.

Seafarer pays homage to the seafaring women who’ve raised or inspired us over the years. Our vision was to establish a brand that celebrates the capabilities of women in their ocean based pursuits. Our flattering, functional and timeless designs encourage women to embrace their femininity without sacrificing practicality and comfort while doing what they love in the ocean.

Meet Maddie

My love for the water started on a collection of coral islands 32 nautical miles off the coast of Geraldton in Western Australia. As a little girl, I spent hours in the sun and salt, diving, beach combing and fishing. My brother and I would leave our shack in the early morning, returning at dusk, salt-crusted and smiling. It was simple and beautiful, full of adventure and joy. We explored rock pools, swam with seals, and surfed behind little tinnies with the other island kids.

The community in these small places was like no other, and the friendships made will last a lifetime. Forged during outdoor adventures and hermit crab hunts, friendships were natural, joy-filled and easygoing. It is this feeling I hope to foster in our Seafarer community. A community filled with childlike joy brought about by outdoor adventure and a shared love of the water.

Meet Josh

Growing up on the coast in Western Australia was such a good time. I was always encouraged to spend my free time in the great outdoors. My family spent weekends boating, surfing, snorkelling and fishing - but with very little luck despite Dad’s best efforts. I learnt to surf at Ocean Beach, Denmark when I was 8 on Dad’s bright orange longboard, “Fantaboy”. I have dedicated my adult life to maintaining this coastal lifestyle and documenting it with a camera.

I've spent the last 8 years working as a freelance photographer and videographer, often in the fashion industry, granting me the freedom and opportunity to travel and surf in some amazing spots around the world. This experience opened my eyes to the substantial gap in the women's surf industry that I hope we will fill with Seafarer. It feels like a natural progression to create a brand that combines three of my passions: surfing, photography and fashion.
