Our Values

At Seafarer we value our planet and the people we share it with. We put these values above profit. They extend beyond sentiment, dictating the ethical standards by which we run our business.

Supply Chain

Environmental and social impact are the primary influences guiding our decision-making. At every stage of our product supply chain, we have been presented with the convenient, affordable, and fastest options first. These have always turned out to be the least ethical. Our dedication to Seafarer’s values has driven us to persist in finding more ethical options despite the substantial logistical, timing, and financial headaches.

Packaging

To avoid single use plastic we've opted to wrap your orders in recycled paper maps and nautical charts diverted from landfill, and secured with natural twine and recycled paper tape. We use compostable hygiene liners in our swimwear bottoms instead of plastic.

Business Structure

We consciously attempt to achieve a positive ethical impact in other ways too, like in our business structuring. We bank with Bank Australia, who don't lend to the fossil fuel industry unlike every other major Australian bank. "We don’t lend to coal, gas or oil extraction or fossil fuel electricity generation. For several years, we’ve had a strong position on not lending to the fossil fuel industry. We made this commitment in response to our customers’ desire to see us take action on climate change, and the majority of our customers support this position." Independent Contractors

As independent contractors operating in the creative industry ourselves, paying our contractors is something we are extremely passionate about. We are currently a small team, just Josh and Maddie, so we sometimes hire contractors such a surfers, models and photographers to support us in our creative efforts for Seafarer. Both of us have years of experience contracting in the creative industry and with this comes an understanding of how often brands seem to think its okay to request free work from you or just in exchange for some of their products. We value the amazing people we get to work with and who support our business and we pay them their rate.

Always Improving

We promise to continue to prioritise our values over profit, to maintain transparency with our customers, and to dedicate resources to educating ourselves and improve our practices.
